Nature-based learning at green primary school

eco-friendly living / primary school / timber / Montenegro

A school should be a place where children go to learn, play and experience. This green school project wants to provide the children and teachers an environment in which that can happen naturally.

Using excess soil found on the site a green hill will be made on which the children can play. To protect them from the hot sun, the building will surround this hill providing shade. With a building so close, it is also easy for a teacher to allow their children to go outside and learn in the lush courtyard. At the end of the day, parents can collect their children as they come down the hill at the side with the enigmatic tree.

Additional features of the project are: the use of mass timber construction, optimised fixed shading devices based on the relative position of the sun, classrooms with abundant daylight and lifted views, low maintenance sport fields and vegetation befitting the local climate.
