City of Biodiversity is a sustainable development plan for the historic castle area in Tata.
Not long ago, Tata was crowned the Hungarian capital of biodiversity! This was primarily due to the impressive Tata Lake and the large number of birds found there. However, in recent years, urban development has started to impact this natural area. New hardware stores and other car-driven businesses have established themselves near the heart and the lake of Tata, leading to increased traffic and parking facilities. This poses a direct threat to both biodiversity and eco-tourism.
Therefore, with this development plan, we propose looking forward. The current enthusiasm and tourism for the natural wealth should grow. Further densification is not necessarily harmful, but it should be aligned with ecological investments. This can be achieved by facilitating popular bike routes, connecting the green infrastructure, and promoting the castle area as a place that brings people closer to nature. In this way, Tata can once again become the city of biodiversity!
